Bio
Paul Wholey is entering his 3rd season as the head coach of the Framingham State University men’s basketball program. Wholey became the 8th head coach of the Rams when he assumed the reigns after the 2009-10 season.
Wholey brings a wide range of experience to Framingham State having coached on the collegiate, high school and AAU levels. Wholey was inducted into the New England AAU Hall of Fame in 2010 as well as the Hull High School Hall of Fame as part of their inaugural class in 2009.
Having coached at four different high schools over 25 years, Wholey’s teams qualified for the MIAA Tournament 15 times including a Division 1 undefeated team in 1996-97.
As coach and director of POPS Basketball, Wholey guided teams to six Division 1 National Championship Tournaments, two Mass State Titles, one New England Title, as well as 12th and 16th place finishes in the country. Many of Wholey’s former players have gone on to play at the collegiate level in Division I, II and III.
As a player at the University of Maine at Orono, Wholey earned All-New England and All-Yankee Conference honors as well as leading New England in scoring in 1976.
Wholey resides in Marshfield with his wife Nancy and is the father of 3 grown children who all played collegiate basketball on the Division III level and were captains of their respective teams.
