Baseball Rallies from Five Down to Defeat Sewanee 10-5
Winter Haven, Fla. — The Framingham State College baseball team rallied from five runs down to defeat Sewanee 10-5 at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. With the win, the Rams move to 5-4 on the season and close out their spring break trip to Florida tomorrow against Knox at 2 p.m.
Sewanee took a commanding five nothing lead as they scored a single run in the first, three in the second and one in the third off Rams starter sophomore Mike Cain (Gloucester, Mass.). Junior Kevin Georgette (Burlington, Mass.) came on in relief in the fourth inning for the Rams and pitched 5 2/3 innings of scoreless no hit relief that allowed the Rams to climb back into the game.
In the sixth inning the Rams scored five runs to tie the game at 5-5 and in the seventh freshman Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) broke the tie with a two out RBI single that put the Rams in the lead for good. The Rams scored five in the seventh and Georgette, who picked up his first win, and Sean Callahan (Watertown, Mass.) held Sewanee scoreless in the final three innings.
Crofton finished the game 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored, while Junior Steven Tramontozzi (Watertown, Mass.) went 2-for-6 with a double and five RBI. Callhan also picked up two hits in the game.
