Third Seed Baseball Eliminated from MASCAC Tournament by Sixth Seed Worcester State

Bridgewater, Mass. - The third seeded Framingham State University baseball team was eliminated from the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Tournament after falling to sixth seed Worcester State 3-1 this afternoon at Alumni Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • After three scoreless innings, the Lancers got on the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Tom Halliwell. 

  • The Rams tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single to center from Johnny Lynch. 

  • The Lancers retook the lead, 2-1, in the top of fifth on an RBI infield single and tacked on an insurance run in the top of the ninth when Halliwell walked with the bases loaded. 

  • Joshua Sunderland took the loss for the Rams going 7.2 innings allowing two earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.  

  • Adam Martin closed out the game for the Rams allowing one earned run on two hits with three walks in his 1.1 innings of relief. 

  • Ben Smith earned the complete game victory for the Lancers allowing one earned run on seven hits with 13 strikeouts and a single walk. 

  • Lynch finished the game 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Lucas Basile also went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
