Baseball Drops a Pair to St. Norbert

Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team dropped a pair of games to St. Norbert today falling 15-0 in the opener before they took the early in the night cap but fell 8-5 in non-conference action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at Lake Myrtle.

Game 1: St. Norbert 15, Framingham 0 

  • Cam Prescott took the loss on the mound for the Rams going 2.1 innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts. 

  • PJ Moniz tossed two innings of relief allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts, while Jaron Duffy went 1.2 in relief allowing five runs on four hits with two strikeouts. 

  • Jace Midbon earned the complete game victory for St. Norbert allowing five hits while striking out 13 and walking none.  

Game 2: St. Norbert 8, Framingham 5 

  • After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Rams plated four runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 4-1. Robichaud plated the first run with a single up the middle and JC Espinal followed with an RBI groundout. Dane Frellick and Colin Johnson followed with RBI base hits to close the inning. 

  • St. Norbert's responded with a four run third taking a 5-4 lead, but the Rams had the answer in the bottom of the inning tying the game on an Espinal RBI double. 

  • St. Norbert took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth and added a single run in the top of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

  • Jason Strickland took the loss on the mound for the Rams going three innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on three hits with three strikeouts. 

  • Nicholas Kutcher tossed four innings of relief allowing three earned runs on five hits with a strikeout. 

  • Robichaud finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, while Johnson finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Espinal chipped with with a double and a pair of RBI in the game. 

  • Massino Mondi also added a pair of hits and scored a run in the game, while Dane Frellick went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Rams are back in action Tuesday afternoon when they face Keuka in Florida for a doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m.
