Baseball Rallies for 8-7 Win at Gordon

Wenham, Mass. – The Framingham State baseball team scored five runs in the final three frames including three in the top of the ninth to secure an 8-7 win over Gordon in non-conference play Wednesday afternoon.

  • Final Score: Framingham State 8, Gordon 7

  • Records: Framingham State (3-14), Gordon (11-10)

  • Location: J. Tec White Field – Wenham, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Gordon got on the board with three in the first including a two-run homer from CJ Demers. They pushed their lead to 5-0 with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings chasing Rams starter Jason Strickland after five innings of work.

  • Gordon starter Sulivan Quirk spun five innings of one-hit ball before handing the ball over to the bullpen.

  • Lucas Basile welcomed the new Gordon pitcher into the game with a three-run jack to cut the deficit to two runs but again the home team answered with a Demers two-run single in the bottom half.

  • The Rams grabbed a run back in the 7th on a double steal and another one in the 8thon a wild pitch.

  • A walk, double and walk loaded the bases for the Rams down two with one-out in the ninth. A wild pitch cut the game to one and a fielder's choice and an error at the plate tied the game at 7. Basile would collect the eventual game winning sac fly as Keith Ramsey pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save of the season.

  • Ben Respress earned the win working around a walk in the 8thinning. Evan Louie suffered the loss for Gordon giving up three runs, one earned just retiring one batter.

  • Demers, Tyler Wilson and Gabe Fales all picked up multiple hits for the home squad.

  • Massimo Mondi and JC Espinal were each 2-for-5 for the Rams while Basile was 1-for-3 with 4 RBIs.
