Worcester State Sweeps MASCAC Doubleheader with Baseball

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team were defeated by Worcester State today 9-0 and 8-6 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Worcester State 9, Framingham State 0 

-Records: Framingham State (5-18, 3-5 MASCAC), Worcester State (15-6, 6-2 MASCAC) 

- Location: Bowditch Field Framingham, Mass.  

Game 1: Worcester State 9, Framingham State 0 

  • In the opener, the Lancers received a no hitter from Gavin Price. Entered the seventh inning with a perfect game but walked the second batter of the inning. Price struck out seven in the game and earned his third victory of the season. 

  • Cam Prescott took the loss on the mound for the Rams going 4.1 innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on four hits with two walks and a strikeout. 

  • The Lancers took advantage of a pair of Rams errors in the top of the first taking a 4-0 lead. They added two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to reach the final margin. 

Game 2: Worcester State 8, Framingham State 6 

  • The Lancers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from Steven Burbank. 

  • Worcester plated three in the third extending the lead to 6-1, but Burbank delivered a two run single in the bottom of the inning closing the gap to 6-3. 

  • Worcester extended the lead to 8-3 with runs in the fourth and fifth. 

  • The Rams plated two run in the fifth on a two run single from Dane Frellick and added an unearned run in the sixth to reach the final score. 

  • Joshua Sunderland took the loss on the mound going four innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on four hits with five strikeouts. 

  • Rosco Palmer went 2-for-2 in the game with three runs scored, while Burbank finished the game 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI.
