Late Runs Lift Salem State Past Baseball 6-3

Salem, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team surrendered three runs in the bottom of the eighth to break a 3-3 tie as the Rams were defeated 6-3 by Salem State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Central Campus Field.

-Records: Framingham State (5-19, 3-6 MASCAC), Salem State (9-12, 5-5 MASCAC) 

- Location: Central Campus Field Salem, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Rams grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two run home run by Christian Cox. 

  • Salem cut the deficit in half on an RBI single in the bottom of the inning. 

  • The pushed the lead back to two on an RBI single from Massimo in the seventh, but the Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the inning an added  three more in the eighth to secure the victory. 

  • Keith Ramsey took the loss for the Rams working an inning and allowing one earned run on two hits. 

  • Cox finished the game 4-for-5 with a run score and two RBI, while Mondi finished the game 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow when they travel to Worcester State at 3 p.m.
