Six Run Ninth Propels Baseball Past Worcester State 13-10

Worcester, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team tallied six runs in the top of the ninth inning erasing a 9-7 deficit and securing a 13-10 victory over Worcester State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Kevin D Lyons Field.

-Records: Framingham State (6-19, 4-6 MASCAC), Worcester State (15-7, 6-3 MASCAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Lancer grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Rams got on the board in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Daniel Robichaud. 

  • The Lancers added runs in the second and third to lead 5-1. The Rams received an RBI single from Rosco Palmer in the fourth cutting the deficit to 5-2. 

  • The Lancers answered extending the lead to 8-2 heading to the sixth. 

  • JC Espinal singled in a run for the Rams in the top of the eighth, but the Lancers received a homerun in the bottom of inning pushing the lead back to two. 

  • The Rams rallied for six runs in the ninth including a two-run single from Cox and RBI base hits from Johnny Lynch and Steven Burbank. 

  • The Lancers added a run in the bottom of the inning to reach the final margin. 

  • Keith Ramsey earned the victory in relief for the Rams going one inning, allowing one earned run on two hits. 

  • Cox, Robichaud, Palmer and Burbank each finished the game with three hits, while Lynch, and Massimo Mondi finished with two hits apiece.

The Rams are back in action Friday when they host Westfield State at 3 p.m.
