Westfield State Swings Past Baseball

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 22-5 by Westfield State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Westfield State 22, Framingham State 5 

-Records: Framingham State (6-20, 4-7 MASCAC), Westfield State (19-8, 6-5 MASCAC) 

- Location: Bowditch Field Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Owls got on the board in the top of the first with a single run and the Rams answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Dane Frellick tying the game 1-1 after one. 

  • The Owls plated nine runs in the top of the second to open a 10-1 lead. Westfield's offense would plate three runs in both the third and fourth and four more in the fifth. The Owls launched six home runs in the game. 

  • The Rams received a solo home run to center from Lucas Basile and three more runs in the sixth on a three-run homer from Christian Cox to account for their final runs in the game. 

  • Cox finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI, while Frellick and Basile finished the game. 2-for-3 apiece. Massimo Mondi added a pair of hits and walked twice.

The Rams are back in action Saturday when they travel to Westfield State at 12 p.m.
