Baseball Falls Twice to Salem State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 19-16 and 15-2 by Salem State this afternoon in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader at Bowditch Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Salem 19, Framingham 16 

  • In the opener, the Rams led 2-1 after two innings before the Vikings rallied for 15 runs in the third and fourth inning opening a large lead. The Vikings added three more in the top of the fifth to lead 19-3. 

  • The Rams chipped away at the lead with four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings closing the gap to 19-11. 

  • The Rams added five more in their final at bat of the game to reach the final margin. 

  • Lucas Basile went 5-for-5 in the game with two runs scored, three doubles and four RBI, while Rosco Palmer went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI. 

  • Daniel Robichaud finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a home run and three RBI, while Dane Frellick finished the game with two hits and three runs scored. 

Game 2: Salem 15, Framingham 2 

  • In game two, each team plated a run in the first inning before the Vikings broke the game open with six runs in the fourth and five in the fifth. 

  • Massimo Mondi went 3-for-3 in the game with a run scored, while Basile went 1-for-3 with an RBI. 

  • Matthew DeCarney took the loss on the mound, going three innings and allowing six runs on eight hits with a strikeout.

The Rams are back in action Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Dean at 3:30 p.m.
