Six Run Sixth Lifts Baseball Past Mass. Maritime

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team plated six runs including a pair of home runs in the sixth inning as the Rams rallied from behind for a 6-4 victory over Mass. Maritime this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field.

- Records: Framingham State (10-23, 6-10), MMA (18-16, 9-7)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Buccaneers built a 4-0 lead with a single run in the second, two in the fourth and one in the fifth. 

  • The Rams bats came alive in the sixth with six runs taking the lead for good. Christian Cox got the inning going with a two-run homer to center. Dane Frellick plated a run with a single and Daniel Robichaud capped the inning with a three-run blast to left. 

  • The Rams bullpen kept the Bucs off the board in their final three at bats of the game to secure the victory. Matthew DeCarney earned the victory by going two scoreless innings allowing just two hits, while Ben Respress earned the save tossing two scoreless innings allowing just three hits. 

  • Cox finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Robichaud finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI.

The Rams are back in action Sunday afternoon when they travel to Mass. Maritime at 12 p.m.
