Baseball Swings Past Gordon 11-1

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team tallied 11 runs on eight hits as the Rams defeated Gordon College 11-1 in seven innings this afternoon in non-conference action at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Mramingham State 11, Gordon 1 (7 Innings) 

- Records: Framingham State (11-25), Gordon (15-22) 

- Location: Bowditch Field Framingham, Mass.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly to left off the bat of Steven Burbank, but Gordon answered with a run in the top of the second tying the game at 1-1. 

  • It was all the Rams after that as they plated 10 unanswered runs including five in the bottom of the second. Roscoe Palmer doubled in a pair of runners and Burbank added a three-run double in the frame. 

  • The Rams capped the scoring with two runs in the sixth to reach the 10-run rule.  Robichaud was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Dane Frellick scored on a bases loaded balk. 

  • Matthew DeCarney earned the victory, going three innings allowing one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts. Keith Ramsey and Austin Buda combined to throw four scoreless innings in relief. Ramsey did not allow a hit in his three innings of work. 

  • Burbank finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI, while JC Espinal went 2-for-4 with a run scored. 

  • Palmer finished the day 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI, while Robichaud went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Rams are back in action Friday afternoon when they host Fitchburg State.
