Baseball Closes Regular Season with Setback at Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, Mass. - The Framingham State University baseball team closed the regular season with a 12-6 loss to Fitchburg State this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Riccards Field.  

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Fitchburg State 12, Framingham State 6 

- Records: Framingham State (13-25, 8-12), Fitchburg State (12-21, 6-14) 

- Location: Riccaards Field Fitchburg, Mass.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double from Steven Burbank, but the Falcons answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and two more in the second. 

  • The Rams received a two run homer from Dane Frellick in the third before the Falcons pushed the lead to 8-3 after five. 

  • The Rams added three runs in the seventh on RBI triples from Rosco Palmer and Massimo Mondi and an RBI fly out from Burbank. 

  • Austin Buda took the loss on the mound for the Rams going two innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits with a walk. 

  • Mondi finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Frellick finished 1-for-1 with two RBI.
