Baseball Drops Two to Amherst

Auburndale, Fla. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated by Amherst College in both games of a doubleheader by scores of 14-4 and 20-6 this afternoon in non-conference action at Lake Myrtle.   

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In the opener, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second after RBI singles from Samuel Conrad and Jacob Delvalle. Amherst tallied eight runs in the bottom of the frame taking the lead for good. 

  • The Rams added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI single from Johnny Lynch and an RBI ground out from Aricin Griffin. Amherst added six in the bottom of the inning to reach the final margin. 

  • Lynch finished the game 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Nicholas Kutcher went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk. 

  • In game two, Amherst took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Rams tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a Lynch RBI single. 

  • Amherst plated two in the second before a Colin Johnson RBI single closed the deficit to 4-2 after two. 

  • Amherst took control of the game with 15 runs in the top of the third inning where they capitalized on field miscues by the Rams   

  • The Rams added a single run in the third on a Conrad single and added two in the fourth on an RBI single from Massimo Mondi and a sacrifice fly from Christian Cox.  Camdon Bradford plated the Rams final run in the fifth when he drew a bases loaded walk. 

  • Conrad finished the game 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI, while Mondi went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
