Anna Maria Takes Two from Baseball

UptonMass. - The Framingham State University baseball team was defeated 7-5 and 6-5 by Anna Maria College in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Blackstone Valley Tech. High School.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • In game one, the Rams got on the board in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Johnny Lynch, but Anna Maria plated three in the bottom of the inning to lead 3-1 after one. 

  • Anna Maria added a run in the bottom of the second before the Rams took advantage of an error to score a pair of runs in the top of the third, closing the deficit to 4-3. 

  • Anna Maria answered with two more in the bottom of the inning, before the Rams scored two in the top of the fourth, including an RBI double from Scott Paquette to trail 6-5. 

  • Anna Maria added a single run in the bottom of the inning to reach the final score. 

  • Charles Ambroult took the loss for the Rams going two innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Ben Respress tossed two innings of scoreless relief for the Rams allowing just one hit. 

  • Paquette and Massimo Mondi each recorded two hits in the game for the Rams. 

  • In the nightcap, the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two run single from Samuel Conrad, but the Amcats tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a pair of runs. 

  • The Rams retook the lead in the top of the third on an RBI groundout from Zachary Kern. The Rams maintained the lead until Anna Maria plated a pair in the bottom of the sixth to lead 4-3. 

  • The Rams scored two in the top of the seventh when Mondi scored on a wild pitch and Nicholas Kutcher tripled home a run, but the Amcats walked off with the victory with two in the bottom of the inning. 

  • Respress took the loss surrendering two runs, one earned, with two walks in relief. Connor Thibault started the game and went five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits with four strikeouts.
