Field Hockey Slated to Finish Third in 2024 MASCAC Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University field hockey team has been slated to finish third in the 2024 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Preseason Poll in voting conducted by the league's coaches.

The Rams were runner-up in the conference tournament last year and received 17 total points.  The Rams went 5-5 in the league during the regular season in 2023. Reigning MASCAC Rookie of the Year Ashley Malmquist returns for the Rams. She was second in the league last season in goals scored (13), third in assists (six) and points (32) with two game-winners to earn a spot on the All-Conference squad.

Worcester State claimed the top spot in the poll with 24 points and four first place votes, while Westfield State took the second spot with 22 points and the final two first place votes. Fitchburg State landed in fourth with 11 points, while Bridgewater State and Salem State rounded out the poll in fifth and sixth with nine and seven points.

The Rams open the 2024 season on Friday, August 30th when they travel to Johnson & Wales at 4 p.m.
