Field Hockey Holds Off Worcester State for 3-2 MASCAC Victory

Worcester, MA – The Framingham State field hockey team clinched a narrow 3-2 victory over Worcester State on Wednesday, at John Coughlin Field.  

THE BASICS: 

Score: Framingham State 3, Worcester State 2 

Records: Framingham State (8-9, 5-4), Worcester State (6-10, 5-4) 

Location: John Coughlin Field, Worcester, MA 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Framingham State took control early in the game, scoring three consecutive goals.  

  • Serra also assisted on the third goal, scored by Natalia Roehr in the fourth quarter. 

  • Worcester State rallied late in the game, with Charlotte MacGregor and Rihanna Morin scoring back-to-back goals to bring the score to 3-2. However, Framingham State's defense held firm to prevent an equalizer, securing the victory. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Shots: Worcester State led with 11 shots, while Framingham State had six, each side putting all their shots on goal. 

  • Saves: Rams goalkeeper Rowan Whittaker stopped nine shots to help Framingham maintain their lead. Madison Ferrara made three saves for the Lancers.  

  • Corners: Both teams earned six penalty corners.

The Rams return to the field on Saturday when they host Westfield State at 2pm.
