Nashua, N.H. – The Framingham State field hockey team faced a tough battle on the road, falling to Rivier University 3-1 on Thursday night at Joanne Merrill Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Rivier opened the scoring at 8:40 in the first period with an unassisted goal by Lexi Davies.
  • Framingham State quickly responded at 9:40 with an unassisted goal by Mikayla Malmquist, tying the game at 1-1.
  • The game remained tied through the second period, with both teams showing strong defensive efforts.
  • Rivier regained the lead in the third period at 43:53 with a goal from Mary Kelley, assisted by Brianna Spinelli.
  • Rivier extended their lead in the fourth period at 46:27 with a goal from Brianna Spinelli, assisted by Reilly Swislosky, securing the 3-1 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Framingham State's Mikayla Malmquist led the team with five shots, all on goal, and scored the lone goal for the Rams.
  • Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello made nine saves for Framingham State, facing a total of 12 shots on goal.
  • Rivier outshot Framingham State 21-9 and had a significant advantage in penalty corners, 11-1.
  • Rivier's goalkeeper Lily Gifford made five saves, allowing just one goal.
