Bio

Donald Morris Jr. enters his sixth season leading the Framingham State men’s basketball program in 2026-27.

In Morris’s first three seasons, the Rams posted records of 3-22, 5-20 and 6-20 as he rebuilt the program from the ground up. Framingham State then took a major step forward in 2024-25, finishing 12-15 overall and 5-7 in MASCAC play and reaching the MASCAC Tournament, where the Rams defeated Bridgewater State in the quarterfinals before falling to Westfield State in the semifinals.

In 2025-26, the Rams continued their climb with a 15-12 overall record and a 7-7 mark in MASCAC play — the program’s best season under Morris. Framingham State returned to the MASCAC Tournament and edged Bridgewater State 87-86 in the quarterfinals before its run ended with a semifinal loss at Worcester State.

During his time at Framingham State, Coach Morris has helped send three FSU players to play professionally after college. Those players were Juran Ligonde – Borisfen (Belarus), Josh Dumay – KS Elbasani (Albania), and Julius Goines – Estudiantes Cartagena (Spain).

Coach Morris is the Director and Founder of the Basketball 2 the Limit (B2L) AAU Program, which is one of the few programs on a shoe circuit as it competes on the Puma NXTPRO Circuit. Established in 2009, B2L offers AAU teams for boys and girls in grades 2-12, and the program has sent over 300 players to play in college at all levels.

Prior to Framingham, Coach Morris was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach for the MassBay Community College Buccaneers after serving as the Associate Head Coach at Newbury College for the 2018-19 season and at Emerson College the year prior. From 2006-2014, he was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Lesley University, making appearances in the NAC finals and the NECC Semifinals.

Coach Morris has also worked closely with staff from the Iowa Wolves NBA G-League, Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics and the New England Falcons, a women’s semi-pro team.

Coach Morris began his basketball career as a four-year starter at Somerville High School in Somerville, Massachusetts, where he was a two-time Greater Boston League All-Star and one of the Boston Globe’s and Herald’s “preseason players to watch.” He received a scholarship to attend Notre Dame Prep, one of the top prep schools in New England, and then earned a scholarship to Dean Junior College, where he was a two-year captain and the leading scorer for the Bulldogs his senior year, earning the team’s MVP award and an All-Conference nomination. He graduated from Dean Junior College with an associate’s degree in Sports Management.

Coach Morris then went on to play at Division II Southern New Hampshire University before returning home to Boston to finish his education at Lesley University, where he graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.

Coach Morris was invited to try out for the Cape Cod Frenzy, Newark Express, and the Charlotte Blue Waves of the ABA and P.B.L. He has coached at exclusive basketball camps across the country, including Five Star, Eastern Invitational, Hoop Mountain, the Red Auerbach School, Nike Southern Preps, the Boston Celtics Camp, and the Dana Barros Camp, among others.

Coach Morris resides in Melrose, Mass. with his wife and their children, Jordan and Donald III.
