Bio

Evan O’Brien will continue to serve as the Interim Head Coach of the Framingham State University men’s basketball program for the 2013-14 season after assuming the role near the conclusion of the 2012-13 season.

O’Brien is in entering his third season with the men’s basketball program and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the program including the team’s recruiting efforts in addition to the team’s video exchange program.

Prior to joining the Rams coaching staff, O’Brien was the head coach at Newbury College in Brookline.  O’Brien took over the reins of the Nighthawk team midway through the 2007-08 season and guided the Nighthawks to the 2008 ECAC Division III New England Championship with a 17-4 overall record.  While at Newbury, O’Brien served as an adjunct faculty member in the College’s business department and recruited and coached the 2009-10 NECC Rookie of the Year.  Prior to his time at Newbury, O’Brien also coached at Lasell College in Newton.

O’Brien attended Suffolk University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 2002 and a Masters in Business Administration in 2005.  During his time at Suffolk, O’Brien was a member of the men’s basketball team and served as graduate assistant and office assistant in the Rams Athletic Department.
