Men’s Ice Hockey Defeated at UMass.- Dartmouth

New Bedford, Mass. – The Framingham State Rams men's ice hockey team suffered a 9-2 setback at UMass.- Dartmouth in MASCAC action on Thursday night in New Bedford. With the loss the Rams fall to 2-9-2 with a 1-6-1 record in the league. The Corsairs move to 3-9-2 with a 3-3-2 MASCAC clip.

Brandon Gilmore finished with a hat-trick and assisted on two other scores to lead the Corsairs. Mike Kelly scored twice and registered three assists. Billy Boudreau, Mike Restuccia, and Shaun Walters also found the back of the net for UMD.

Sophomore Mark Essery (Rockfall, CT) scored two unassisted goals to account for the Rams offense in the setback.

In net, JJ Solloway turned away 26 attempts to earn his third win of the season, while teammate Nic Wackerly made nine saves in relief for UMass Dartmouth. For the Rams, Alessio Muggli (Rueti, Switzerland) made 19 stops in 32minutes and Matt Crescione (West Hempstead, N.Y.) compiled nine saves over the remaining 28 minutes of play.

The Corsairs took advantage of their power-play opportunities, capitalizing on two of six attempts. Framingham State spent significantly more time in the box with 14 penalty minutes, compared to only six by hosts. 

UMass Dartmouth returns to action at 3:30 pm on Saturday, Jan. 17, when the Corsairs host MASCAC foe Plymouth State. The Rams continue conference play against Salem State on Saturday, with an anticipated start time of 2:40 pm.
