Fitchburg State Shuts Out Men's Ice Hockey, 8-0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Reigning MASCAC champion Fitchburg State scored five first-period goals and cruised to an 8-0 victory over Framingham State Wednesday evening at Loring Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • First Period: The Falcons took control early, with John Mantone opening the scoring just 2:13 into the contest. Fitchburg State poured it on from there, getting goals from Nicklas Millhorn, Aleksei Filimonov, Nathan Dann on the power play, and Jackson Collins to build a commanding 5-0 lead after one period.
  • Second Period: Fitchburg State continued to apply pressure, extending the lead to 7-0. Tye Battipaglia scored at 5:15, and Alexandre Bauvais capped the period with a goal in the final minute. Framingham State made a goaltending change, with Owen Swanbon replacing Liam Kilgallen.
  • Third Period: Mantone added his second goal of the night early in the period to cap the scoring. The Rams killed off two power plays in the final frame but could not generate any offense against Frederick Soderberg.
