Grassia and Gauthier Earn MASCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Framingham, Mass. - Senior infielder Brooke Grassia (Danvers, Mass.) and freshman pitcher Audrey Gauthier (Dexter, Mich.) have been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 6th.  

Grassia batted .462 (6-13), posting a .563 OBP with a double, three walks, three runs scored in a 3-1 week for the Rams. Grassia went 3-for-3 with a run scored in game one and walked twice and scored a run in game two in the sweep of MCLA. She went 2-for-3 with a walk and run scored handing previously unbeaten UMass Boston their first loss of the season.     

Gauthier went 2-1 with a save posting a 1.34 ERA, striking out 14 and walking two in 15.2 innings of work. Gauthier posted wins in both games of a doubleheader sweep of MCLA giving up two hits and one unearned run in game one before working 1.2 innings of relief and earning the win in game 2. Gauthier did not allow an earned run in a 4-2 game 1 loss to undefeated UMass Boston before coming into a bases loaded no out 7th, not allowing a run to earn the save in game two.
