Rooney and Etemad-Gilbertson Earn MASCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Framingham, Mass. - Senior shortstop Makayla Rooney (Peabody, Mass.) and freshman outfielder Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson (Boston, Mass.) have been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 27th.  

Rooney batted .556 (10-for-18) with four doubles, six walks, five RBI, 10 runs scored with a .667 on-base percentage in a 4-2 week for the Rams. Rooney went 4-of-5 with three doubles and four walks, including the walk-off hit in a sweep of Salem State. She was 3-for-7 with a double, two runs scored and two walks in a split with Mass. Maritime. Rooney went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the 10-1 win over Wentworth. 

Etemad-Gilbertson earns her second rookie of the week honors after hitting .545 (12-of-22), scoring 10 runs and stealing six bases in a 4-2 week for the Rams. Etemad-Gilbertson went 5-for-9 with five runs scored, including the game one walk off in a sweep of Salem State. She was 3-for-4 in a win over Mass. Maritime and went 4-for-4 with three runs scored in a win over Wentworth.
