Women's Basketball Falls to Regis in Park Lodge Womens Invitational Tournament
Weston, Mass. - Regis senior guard Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.)
registered a first-half double-double and led the Pride (6-2) to a
78-40 victory over the Rams of Framingham State College (3-3) in
the opening game of the Park Lodge Invitational Women's Tournament
hosted by Regis.
In the first half, Page went 6-for-12 from the field (2-for-5 from
three-point range), scored 15 points and 10 rebounds. As a
team, the Pride held the visiting Rams to a futile 5-for-21 (23.8
percent) from the field and busted open a 37-14 lead at the break.
The Pride defense forced Framingham into 16 first-half
turnovers.
The Rams improved to just-under 38 percent shooting in the
second-half, but Regis shot the lights out from long range, going
7-for-14 from behind the arc. Sophomore guard Meghan Tobin
(Quincy, Mass.) made all three attempted three-pointers and
finished perfect shooting, adding a couple of free-throws.
Page finished with a tremendous score line; 20 points, 13 rebounds,
five assists, and four steals. Tobin, junior forward Brittany
White (Dorchester, Mass.), and sophomore point guard Stephanie
Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) contributed 11 points each for
Regis.
Despite the loss, Framingham got eight points from both senior
forward Toya Chester (Leominster, Mass.) and sophomore forward
Emily Clark (Melrose, Mass.).
Framingham is now scheduled to play the 1p.m. consolation game on
Sunday against Maine Maritime, while Regis tips off the
Championship game at 3p.m. on Sunday versus Tufts.
