Strong Second Half Pushes Women’s Basketball Past Regis 84-69

Weston, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team used a 17-3 run in the third quarter to erase a seven point deficit and take the lead for good as the Rams defeated Regis College 84-69 this evening in non-conference action at Higgins Court.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams saw four players record double figures in the game led by a double-double of 24 points and 10 boards from Faith Greene. Greene connected on 10-of-16 from the floor and added a pair of blocks.  

  • Abigail Martin added a double-double of her own with 17 points and 12 boards as she added four assists, two steals and two blocks.  

  • Jacqueline Schels added 15 points and seven rebounds with two steals, while Michelle Moreno finished the night with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal.  

  • The Rams shot 45% from the floor in the game and just 33% from behind the arc, but the Rams went to the line 35 times in the game converting on 27 of those opportunities, while the Pride just went to the line 11 time in the game.  

  • The Pride shot 70% from behind the arc in the first half including a first quarter where they did not miss a single three pointer attempted.  The Pride shot 50% from behind the arc in the game and 43% from the floor.   

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Pride used a late run in the second quarter and three to open the third quarter to lead 43-36.    

  • The Rams countered with a 17-3 run over the next five minutes to erase the deficit and take a 53-46 lead. The Rams would maintain the lead throughout the second half to secure the victory.
