Fourth Quarter Runs Lifts Brandeis Past Women’s Basketball

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team surrendered a pair of fourth quarter runs as Brandeis University came from behind to earn a 74-64 victory this afternoon  in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by a double double from Jacqueline Schels who tallied 20 points on 4-of-9 from the floor and added 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals. 

  • Kiara Cerruti finished the game with 19 points on 7-of-12 from the floor. Cerruti added five rebounds and two assists. 

  • Zaria Anderson came off the bench and tallied 12 points with three assists. 

  • In a back and forth first quarter, the Rams used a Zaria Anderson three to take a 19-14 lead after one. 

  • In the second, the Rams started the frame with four straight points and pushed the lead to as many as 14 (32-18) on an Ava McKeon three with 5:53 on the clock.   

  • Brandeis closed the deficit to seven with just under three to play in the half, but the Rams took a 43-33 lead into the locker room. 

  • Brandeis chipped away at the lead pulling within three (44-41), but the Rams pushed the lead back to eight (51-43) with just under three to play in the frame. The Rams took a 55-51 lead into the final quarter. 

  • The Judges opened the fourth with an 8-0 run taking a 59-55 lead with 7:20 on the clock. The Rams pulled within one (63-62) on a Zaria Anderson layup with 4:15 on the clock, but the Judges countered with a 7-0 run to secure the victory.
