Women's Basketball Opens MASCAC Play with 91-66 Victory over Westfield State
 

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team received 52 points from the duo of Faith Greene and Kiara Cerruti as the Rams defeated Westfield State 91-66 this evening in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams received a career-high 31 points from Greene who connected on 12-of-20 from the floor.  Greene added 19 rebounds in the game, which was one shy of her career high. Greene added four assists, three steals and two blocks. 

  • Cerruti finished the game with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with four rebounds and two steals. 

  • Ava McKeon finished the night with 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Jacqueline Schels just missed a double-double as she tallied 10 points with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.  

  • In the first quarter, the Owls led 8-7 before the Rams used an 8-0 run capped by an Anderson three to take a 15-8 lead with just over four on the clock.   

  • The Owls pulled within five, but a Yelle layup in the closing minute gave the Rams a 20-13 lead after one. 

  • In the second, the Rams extended the lead to nine points (28-19) on a Cerruti three just under three minutes into the quarter, but the Owls countered with a 6-0 run closing the gap to 28-25 midway through the second. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead back to seven before the Owls closed the half with a bucket giving the Rams a 40-35 lead at the half. 

  • The Owls scored first in the third before the Rams used a 10-3 opening up a 50-40 lead with just over six minutes to play. 

  • The Rams extended the lead to as many as 15 down the stretch before the Owls rattled home a shot at the buzzer to trail 66-56 after three. 

  • Westfield pulled within eight points to start the fourth, but the Rams outscored the Owls 25-10 in the frame and led by as many as 25 en route to the victory.
