Women’s Ice Hockey Surges to Force Overtime in Loss to New England College

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Framingham State women's ice hockey team put up a strong third-period rally but ultimately fell short in a 3-2 overtime loss against New England College on Tuesday night at Loring Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

1st Period: 

  • New England College struck early, opening the scoring just 1:26 into the game with a goal from Meadow Gilchrist, assisted by Jordan Pond and Kate Devlin. 

2nd Period: 

  • The visitors extended their lead at 13:50 when Jordan Pond found the back of the net off assists from Mae Lafferty and Samantha Babbitt. 

 3rd Period: 

  • The Rams tied the game at 13:12 when Sarah Lewis netted an unassisted goal, energizing the home crowd and forcing overtime. 

Overtime: 

  • New England College secured the victory just 1:03 into the extra frame as Samantha Babbitt buried the game-winning goal unassisted.
