Women’s Soccer Ties Mass. Maritime on Senior Day

Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Saturday morning in MASCAC action. Prior to the game, the Rams honored the four seniors playing in their final season: Madison Magone, Grayson Tellier, Sarah Campbell & Cathryn Cooney.  

 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Framingham State 1, Mass. Maritime 1 

  • Records: Framingham State (5-7-4, 3-2-2 MASCAC), Mass. Maritime (2-12-2, 0-5-2 MASCAC) 

  • Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a scoreless first half, Framingham State broke through in the 51st minute when senior Sarah Campbell found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Grayson Tellier, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead. 

  • Mass. Maritime responded in the 78th minute as Ayla Santoro scored on a penalty kick after a foul in front of the MMA goal to level the match at 1-1. 

  • Despite a dominant offensive performance, Framingham State was unable to convert additional chances, and the match ended in a draw. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams outshot the Buccaneers 42-4, including 18 shots on goal. 

  • Mass. Maritime goalkeeper Brady Deschamps had a standout performance, recording 17 saves to keep the Buccaneers in the match. 

  • Framingham State earned 9 corner kicks to Mass. Maritime's 1.
