Women's Track & Field Opens Season at BSU Bears Invitational

Bridgewater, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's track and field team opened the 2023 season with a strong showing this afternoon at the BSU Bears Invitational hosted by Bridgewater State.  

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • Emily Newcomb paced the Rams in the 800M run as she finished third with a time of 2:29.66. Newcomb recorded her second top five finish in the 1500M run as she placed fourth with a time of 5:09.97. 

  • Casey McAuliffe and Olivia Poole finished ninth and tenth respectively in the 5000M run with times of 20:52.56 and 20:55.72. 

  • The Rams 4x100 meter relay team of Becca Morris, Lydia Marunowski, Brooke Fenton and Elizabeth Dykstra placed fifth with a time of 56.20. Marunowski finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 9.11 meters. 

  • In the throwing events, Alyssa Caputo finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 8.94 meters and eighth in the hammer with a throw of 32.88 meters, while Bella Kondi finished tenth in the discus throw with a toss of 23.97 meters and Kaylee Beck placed fifth in the Hammer with a throw of35.82 meters.
