Women's Track & Field Finishes Fifth at Regis Spring Classic

Weston, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's track and field team received a first place finish in the discus and a second place finish in the shotput from sophomore Alyssa Caputo as the Rams finished fifth at the Regis Spring Classic hosted by Regis College.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

  • The duo of Alyssa Caputo and Kaylee Beck paced the Rams in the throwing events Caputo claimed the top spot in the discus with a toss of 36.32M and claimed the second spot in the shotput with her throw of 9.60M. With her throw of 36.32M, Caputo has qualified for the DIII New England meet in May. Caputo is the first Ram to qualify for DIII New England's.  Beck landed fourth in the shotput with her toss of 9.31M.  Beck landed in the second spot in the hammer with a throw of 34.92M, while Caputo finished sixth with her throw of 32.49M. 

  • Kammarie Pelland and Brooke Fenton were the Rams top finishers in the javelin. Pelland finished third at 32.33 M and Fenton was fifth at 26.07M. 

  • Elizabeth Dykstra finished in the top ten in the long jump and the 400M. She placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 4.2M and seventh in the 400M with a time of 1:06.27. 

  • Casey McAuliffe, Meghan Johnston and Olivia Poole all placed in the top ten in the 1,500M run. McAuliffe finished sixth (5:17.83) with Johnston one place behind in seventh (5:21.81) Poole crossed in ninth at 5:39.76. 

  • Emily Newcomb and Gwen Madden finished third and eighth in the 800M run. Newcomb finished with a time of 2:28.46 and Madden at 2:42.42. 

  • The Rams 4x400 relay team of Leah Chace, Brooke Fenton, Kelsey Gendreau and Lydia Marunowski finished second with a time of 4:59.18 which was just one tenth of a second behind Regis who finished first.
