Szymanski and Casali Earn Major Awards as Volleyball Lands Three on 2022 All-MASCAC Teams
Framingham, Mass. – Outside hitter Anna Szymanski (Harwinton, Conn.) has been named the 2022 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Year and head coach Richard Casali has been named the BSN Sports Coach of the Year as the Rams land three on the 2022 All-MASCAC Volleyball Teams as announced by the conference office this morning after voting was conducted the league's coaches.
Joining Szymanski as an All-MASCAC First Team selection is junior middle hitter Hailey Sanders (Franklin, Mass.), while freshman setter Stella Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) has been selected to the second team.
Casali earns his fifth coach of the year honor since 2011 after guiding the Rams to a 6-1 mark in league play and a share of the 2022 MASCAC Regular Season Title. The Rams, who went 17-12 overall on the year, earned the top seed on the MASCAC Tournament where they were eliminated in the semifinal round.
Szymanski earns her first all-conference nod and player of the year honor after she finished the season ranked first in the league in kills (350) and second in kills per set with a 3.30 average per set. She collected 287 digs on the year with 13 total blocks and 18 aces.
Sanders repeats as a first team selection after finishing her junior season third in the MASCAC in kills (272) and kills per set (2.64). Sanders finished the season ranking second in the league in hitting percentage at .281.
Bailey earns her first All-MASCAC honors after an outstanding rookie season. Bailey led the Rams and ranked fourth in the league in assists with 379 on the season. She ranked sixth in the league in assists per set 4.31 and was selected MASCAC Rookie of the Week once this season.
