Football Topples UMass Dartmouth 14-10

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team received a pair of rushing touchdowns from Jaheim Daniels as the Rams defeated UMass Dartmouth 14-10 this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • After a scoreless first quarter, the Rams took the lead on a two-yard touchdown run from Daniels with 8:59 on the clock in the second. Daniels' touchdown capped a nine play, 68 yard drive. 

  • UMass Dartmouth responded tying the game 7-7 on a Luke Turco 16-yard touchdown run with just under five to play in the half. 

  • The Rams retook the lead with just under two minutes to play in the half when Daniels capped a six play, 48 yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run. Dillon Mangus converted the extra point, and the Rams led 14-7. 

  • UMass received a 34-yard field goal from Connor McManus as time expired in the second to send the game to the half with the Rams leading 14-10. Neither team scored in the second half and the Rams held on for the victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Daniels finished the game with 75 yards rushing on 21 carries with the pair of scores. Daniels also had two catches for 32 yards in the game.  

  • Adrian Sarrette had three catches for 45 yards, while Ayden Ramirez made three catches for 41 yards. 

  • The Rams defense held the Corsairs to just 66 yards passing the game and forced three turnovers. 

  • Zimari Omosefe paced the Rams defense with eight tackles, including seven solo stops, while James Wilder chipped in with six stops including two for a loss and three pass breakups.

The Rams are back in action next Saturday when they host Bridgewater State at 12 p.m.
