Last Second Kick Blocked as Football Falls 14-12 at Mass. Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team had a 19-yards field goal attempt blocked with eight second on the clock as the Rams were defeated 14-12 by Mass. Maritime this afternoon in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action at Clean Harbors Stadium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Michael Marcucella completed 26-of-41 pass attempts for 293 yards with an interception. 

  • Blake Barron paced the defense with 15 tackles including 11 solo with a sack, while Josiah Mitchell made eight stops with six solo. 

  • Kymauny Roland added six tackles including one for a loss with three quarterback hurries.   

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams got on the board first in the opening minute of the second quarter on a four yard run from Jaheim Daniels. After missing the extra point, the Rams led 6-0. 

  • The Bucs took the lead with 1:54 left in the half on a 20 yard touchdown pass. 

  • The Bucs extended the lead to 14-6 with a touchdown to open the third quarter. 

  • The Rams tied the game with 3:49 to play in the fourth on a one yard run from Ransford Adri, but the two point conversion failed and the Bucs led 14-12. 

  • The Rams defense forced a three and out from the Bucs and the Rams offense took over at their own 21 yard line with 1:58 to play. The Rams drove down to the two yard line and after a pair of timeouts attempted the game tying field which was blocked. The Rams recovered the ball but were tackled short of the end zone ending the game.

The Rams are back in action November 1st when they travel to Plymouth State at 12 p.m.
