Softball Closes Season with 2-0 Loss to Husson in NCAA Tournament

Orono, Maine - The Framingham State University softball team saw their season come to a close this evening with a 2-0 loss to Husson University in an elimination game of the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament at UMaine Orono Softball Field.   

THE BASICS:

- Records: Framingham State (25-19), Husson (37-5) 

- Location: UMaine Orono Softball Field Orono, Maine 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a pair of RBI doubles. 

  • The Rams threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning when the loaded the bases. Makayla Rooney singled and Shelby Roode reached on an error for runners on first and second. Marina Cadena them walked to load the bases, but the Eagles were able to record a strikeout and a force out to end the inning. 

  • The Eagles retired the Rams in order in the seventh to secure the victory and advance in the regional. 

  • Rams starter Ally Moran took the loss in the circle. Moran went seven innings, allowing two earned runs on sixth hits with two strikeouts. 

  • Danielle Masterson earned the victory for the Eagles by going four innings and allowing no runs on two hits. 

  • Rooney finished the game 2-for-3 for the Rams, while Roode finished 1-for-3..
