Softball Sweeps Buffalo State and Fredonia

Clermont, Fla.  - The Framingham State University softball team swept a pair of non-conference foes today defeating Buffalo State 9-4 and Fredonia 5-1 at Legends Way Complex.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 9, Buffalo State 4 

  • In the opener the Rams plated three runs in the bottom of the second including an RBI single from Marina Cadena. 

  • After Buffalo State tied the game in the top of the inning, the Rams retook the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third.  Makayla Rooney plated a run when she reaches on an error and Ava Sillings added an RBI single. 

  • The Rams tacked on four more in the bottom of the sixth and Buffalo State added one in the top of the seventh to reach the final margin. 

Game 2: Framingham 5, Fredonia 1 

  • The Rams jumped out to the early lead with single runs in the top of the second and third on an RBI single from Isabella MacDonald and a bases loaded walk from Joselyn Pepe. 

  • The Rams doubled the advantage in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Abigail Behrikis and an RBI double from Makayla Rooney. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to 5-0 on a MacDonald RBI single up the middle in the top of the fifth and Fredonia tacked on a single run in the bottom of the seventh to reach the final score. 

  • Brooke Grassia finished the game 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while MacDonald went 2-for-3 with two RBI. 

  • Sydney Bednarz earns the victory in the circle going four innings and allowing no runs on three hits with a walk. Julianna Chisholm earned her first save tossing three innings and allowing one earned run on three hits.

The Rams are back in action tomorrow when they face Middlebury and Bodoin at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
