Softball Closes Southern Swing with Loss to Coe and Victory over Endicott

Clermont, Fla. - The Framingham State University softball team closed their spring break trip this morning falling to Coe 4-0 before defeating Endicott 5-0 this afternoon at Legends Way Complex.  

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Coe 4, Framingham State 0 
Framingham State 5, Endicott 

- Records: Framingham State (9-3), Coe (0-0), Endicott (5-5) 

- Location: Legends Way Fields Clermont, Fla.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Coe 4, Framingham 0 

  • In the opener against Coe, the Rams were held to one hit by Coe starting pitcher Natalie Hitt as she went seven shutout innings allowing just one hit with one walk and 13 strikeouts. 

  • The Rams lone hit was a single from Gianna Paolino in the top of the fifth inning. 

  • Coe got on the board in the bottom of the first on an RBI double and RBI single. 

  • They added single runs in the fourth and sixth to reach the final margin. 

  • Julianna Chisholm took the loss in the circle going five innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks. 

Game 2: Framingham 5, Endicott 0 

  • In game two against the Gulls, Audrey Gauthier tossed a complete game shutout to earn her fourth victory of the season. Gauthier allowed just three hits with four walks and 13 strikeouts. 

  • The game was scoreless through 4.5 innings until the Rams broke through in the bottom of the fifth scoring a run on a single to right from Brooke Grassia. 

  • The Rams tacked on four more in the bottom of the sixth to reach the final score.  The Rams scored a pair of runs on wild pitches and also received a sacrifice fly from Ellie Etemad Gilbertson and an RBI single from Abigail Behrikis.

The Rams are back in action Wednesday afternoon when they host Simmons at 3 p.m.
