Softball Takes Two from New England College

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took both games of a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon defeating New England College 8-0 in five innings and 6-2 at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 8, NEC 0 

  • In the opener, the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first on a two run single from Makayla Rooney. 

  • The Rams added a run in the third as they capitalized on an NEC error. 

  • The Rams took control of the game with five runs in the bottom of the fourth including a two run single from Jocelyn Pepe. 

  • Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle going four innings allowing no runs on one hit with six strikeouts. 

Game 2: Framingham 6, NEC 2 

  • In game two, NEC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Rams plated six runs in the second taking the lead for good. 

  • Sydney Bednarz earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits with seven strikeouts.

The Rams are back in action Monday afternoon when they host Worcester State at 3 p.m.
