Softball Takes Two from New England College

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took both games of a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon defeating New England College 8-0 in five innings and 6-2 at Maple Street Field.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 8, NEC 0 

• In the opener, the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first on a two run single from Makayla Rooney. 

• The Rams added a run in the third as they capitalized on an NEC error. 

• The Rams took control of the game with five runs in the bottom of the fourth including a two run single from Jocelyn Pepe. 

• Audrey Gauthier earned the victory in the circle going four innings allowing no runs on one hit with six strikeouts. 

Game 2: Framingham 6, NEC 2 

• In game two, NEC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Rams plated six runs in the second taking the lead for good. 

• Victoria Connelly plated a run on a fielder's choice and Brooke Grassia followed with an RBI single. Ellie Etemad-Gilbertson added an RBI ground out and Rooney added an RBI single.  Eliza Carignan drove in a run with a single and Pepe closed the inning with an RBI ground out. 

• Sydney Bednarz earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing two earned runs on 11 hits with seven strikeouts.
