Softball Sweeps MASCAC Twinbill with Salem State

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team took both games of a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) doubleheader with Salem State by scores of 9-8 and 11-8 this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

- Records: Framingham State (21-9, 7-3), Salem State (15-14, 4-5)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 9, Salem 8 

  • In the opener, the Rams walked off with the victory after a Makayla Rooney double in the bottom of the seventh plated the game winning run. 

  • The Rams grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Vikings countered with four in the top of the second to grab the lead.  

  • The Rams took the lead back in the bottom of the second, but the Vikings once again responded tying the game at 6-6 in the top of the third.  

  • The Vikings took the lead in the fourth with a pair of runs, but the Rams tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Abigail Behrikis and a bases-loaded walk. 

  • Audrey Guathier earned the victory in the circle going seven innings, allowing eight runs, two earned, on 10 hits with three strikeouts and eight walks. 

Game 2: Framingham 11, Salem 8 

  • In game two, the Rams built an 11-1 lead through four innings, but the Vikings chipped away at the lead with four runs in the fifth and threatened in the top of the seventh when they plated three more runs. 

  • Julianna Chisholm earned the victory in game two going five innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits with two strikeouts and five walks.
