Softball Splits Two with Wentworth

Boston, Mass. - The Framingham State University softball team split a pair games of a non-conference games with Wentworth taking game one by a score of 10-1 in six innings before falling 11-3 in five innings this afternoon at Carr Diamond 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  Framingham State 10, Wentworth 1 (6 Innings) 
Wentworth 11, Framingham State 3 (5 Innings) 

- Records: Framingham State (22-10), Wentworth (16-18) 

- Location: Carr Diamond Boston, Mass.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Game 1: Framingham 10, Wentworth 1 

  • In the opener, the Rams jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and extended the lead to 6-1 after three innings. 

  • The Rams added a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to secure the run rule victory. 

  • Julianna Chisholm earned the victory in the circle going three innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with four walks. 

Game 2: Wentworth 11, Framingham 3 

  • In game two, the Rams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as the Rams capitalized on a Wentworth fielding error, but Wentworth answered in the bottom of the inning with four runs. 

  • The Rams cut the deficit to 4-2 in the top of the second on an RBI single from Grassia, but Wentworth tacked on a run in the bottom of the inning to lead 5-2. 

  • Pepe drove in a run for the Rams in the third with an RBI single, but it was all Wentworth after that as they plated six runs in the fifth to secure the run rule victory. 

  • Chisholm took the loss in the circle going two innings allowing five runs, one earned, on five hits.

The Rams are back in action Thursday afternoon when they travel to Wentworth at 3:30 p.m.
