Second Seed Softball Falls 5-3 to Third Seed Worcester State

Framingham, Mass. - The second seeded Framingham State University softball team was defeated 5-3 by third seed Worcester State this afternoon in one quarterfinal of the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Tournament at Maple Street Field. With the loss, the Rams fall into the loser's bracket of the tournament and will face fifth seed Salem State on Saturday at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.

-Scores:  Worcester State 5, Framingham State 3 

- Records: Framingham State (25-14), Worcester State (25-12) 

- Location: Maple Street Field Framingham, Mass.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Lancers grabbed the early lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first. 

  • The Lancers tacked on a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second pushing the lead to 4-0 and another unearned run in the third pushed the advantage to 5-0. 

  • The Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first.  Jocelyn Pepe doubled home a run and Eliza Carignan followed that with an RBI double of her own.  Abigail Behrikis reached on an error plating the third run closing the deficit to 5-3. 

  • The Rams had runners on in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, but could not push across any more runs. 

  • Audrey Gauthier took the loss for the Rams in the circle going three innings allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits with five strikeouts.
