Second Seed Softball Falls to Third Seed Worcester State in MASCAC Tournament Championship

Framingham, Mass. - The second seeded Framingham State University softball team was defeated 5-3 by third seed Worcester State in the championship game of the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Tournament at Maple Street Field.  The Lancers receive the MASCAC's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Lancers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a pair of bases loaded walks. 

  • Worcester State extended the lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single and a two-run double.  

  • Abigail Behrikis reached on an error to lead off the top of the seventh and came around to score on an RBI double by Ava Sillings. Brooke Grassia singled, putting runners on the corners and the tying run at the plate with one out for the Rams. Etemad-Gilbertson followed with a sacrifice fly cutting the deficit to 5-3 with two outs, but the Lancers were able to record the final out and secure the final out. 

  • Tournament MVP Peyton Maloney earned the victory in the circle going seven innings allowing three runs, one earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts. 

  • Audrey Gauthier took the loss for the Rams tossing six innings and allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits with five strikeouts and five walks.
