Women’s Basketball Falls on Buzzer Beater 73-72 to Conn. College

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's basketball team took the lead on a step back from Kiara Cerruti with 3.4 seconds remaining, but Conn. College sank the game winning jumper as time expired to defeat the Rams 73-72 this evening in non-conference action at Logan Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by 30 points from Cerruti who connected on 11-of-12 from the field and added four rebounds. 

  • In the opening quarter, the Rams trailed 8-7 with just under four minutes to play.  The Rams rattled off seven straight points before a three for Camels cut the Rams lead to 14-11 after one. 

  • The Rams pushed the lead to nine to open the second quarter after threes from Cerruti and Zaria Anderson.  The Camels chipped away, closing the gap to two, 26-24, with 5:39 on the clock. 

  • The Rams used a 10-3 run, including five points from Cerruti to push the lead back to nine before heading to the half leading 36-29. 

  • The Camels opened the third quarter with a 13-3 run taking a 42-39 lead with six minutes on the clock.  The two teams traded the lead before the Camels led 51-48 after three. 

  • The fourth quarter mimicked the third with the team trading the lead until the Camels took a six point lead, 65-59, with 4:27 to play. 

  • The Rams tallied six straight tying the game at 65 before a Cerutti three put the Rams on top 68-67 with 1:41 to go. 

  • The Camels retook the lead with 25.6 on the clock, but the Rams answered with a pair of free throws from Abigail Martin to lead 70-69 with 23.4 to play. 

  • After a time out, Conn. College grabbed the lead back on a layup, but Cerruti's jumper with 3.4 on the clock put the Rams back on top 72-71. 

  • Conn. College called a timeout to advance the ball and Sofia Tavares sank the game winning jumper as time expired.
