Worcester State Bests Women’s Ice Hockey in MASCAC Opener

FRAMINGHAM, MASS – The Framingham State women's ice hockey team was defeated by Worcester State by a score of 4-1 in MASCAC action Saturday evening at Loring Arena.  

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Worcester State 4, Framingham State 1 

  • Records: Worcester State (2-1-0, 1-0-0 MASCAC), Framingham State (0-3-0, 0-1-0 MASCAC) 

  • Location: Framingham, Massachusetts – Loring Arena 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Second Period: Worcester State responded with three goals. Emily Johns scored a power-play goal at 00:38, followed by Madelyn Franta at 05:24, and another power-play goal by Cailey Ryan at 13:01. 

  • Third Period: Worcester State sealed their victory with a power-play goal by Lea Gaspar at 02:35. 

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Worcester State outshot Framingham State 38-20. 

  • Framingham State's Lila Chamoun made 34 saves in the loss. 

  • Worcester State's Kelsey Czerniawski recorded 19 saves for the win. 

  • Framingham State went 1-for-2 on the power play, while Worcester State went 3-for-8.
