OT Goal Gives Hood 4-3 Win Over Women's Ice Hockey

FREDERICK, Md. – Sofie Ancona scored 12 seconds into overtime to lift Hood past Framingham State 4-3 in non-conference action Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • First Period: Both teams played through a scoreless opening period. Lila Chamoun made 15 saves for Framingham State, while Kamryn Sohner stopped all 12 Rams shots.
  • Second Period: Molly Hawkins broke the deadlock at 9:37, scoring on assists from Lillian Scardicchio and Ancona to give Hood a 1-0 lead. The Blazers doubled their advantage at 2:43 of the third period when Ancona found the net.
  • Third Period: The Rams mounted a furious comeback with three goals in less than 10 minutes. Rylee Bogren got Framingham State on the board with an unassisted tally at 7:14. Sarah Lewis cut the deficit to one at 9:47, assisted by Rose Brien, and Alexis Brown tied the game at 17:04 with helpers from Molly Murphy and Kristina Jones. Hood pulled Sohner for an extra attacker late, and Hawkins scored her second goal with five seconds remaining to make it 4-3.
  • Overtime: Ancona wasted no time in overtime, beating Chamoun just 12 seconds into the extra session off an assist from Emily Cross to secure the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
