Football Opens Season with Setback to Husson

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University football team opened the 2025 season falling 40-13 to Husson University this afternoon in non-conference action at Bowditch Field. 

THE BASICS:

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The Rams totaled 266 yards of offense in the game including 224 yards through the air, while Husson amassed 488 yards of offense with 396 passing yards. 

  • Scotty Brown completed 13-of-23 passes for the Rams for 226 yards with a touchdown, while Mathias Fowler was the Rams leading receiver with four catches for 97 yards. Alex Maia made three catches for 59 yards in the game. 

  • Nick Quintina paced the Rams defense with nine tackles including seven solo stops, while Kymauny Roland tallied seven stops including 1.5 tackles for a loss and blocked an extra point. Korey Barron added seven stops of his own with two tackles for a loss. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Husson got on the board on the opening possession of the game, but the Rams blocked the extra point. 

  • The Rams tied the game with just under four to play in the first on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Mathias Fowler. 

  • Husson retook the lead in the opening minute of the second quarter, but the Rams tied the game 13-13 on a five-yard touchdown run from Ezana Zemene with 9:30 before the half. Husson added a late touchdown to lead 20-13 at the half. 

  • Husson capped the game with three touchdowns in the third quarter to reach the final margin.
