WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Framingham State field hockey team was defeated on the road at Westfield State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
THE BASICS:
- Score: Westfield State 6, Framingham State 1
- Records: Framingham State (2-10, 1-6 MASCAC), Westfield State (11-3, 7-0 MASCAC)
- Location: Alumni Field, Westfield, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Westfield State came out strong, scoring two goals in the first quarter. Kaleigh Murphy opened the scoring just over a minute into the game, assisted by Caroline Andrade. Murphy added another goal at the 6:47 mark, assisted by Kacey Curran.
- The Owls extended their lead in the second quarter with an unassisted goal from Caroline Andrade, making it 3-0 at halftime.
- Andrade continued her impressive performance with another unassisted goal early in the third quarter. Ashley D'Elia added to the lead with a goal assisted by Murphy, making it 5-0.
- Framingham State's Chloe Moynihan broke through in the third quarter, scoring an unassisted goal at the 42:26 mark.
- Andrade completed her hat trick in the fourth quarter, scoring her third goal of the game, assisted by Murphy, to seal the 6-1 victory for Westfield State.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Framingham State managed nine shots, with six on goal. Moynihan led the Rams with two shots, one of which found the back of the net.
- Westfield State dominated with 22 shots, 17 of which were on target. Andrade led the Owls with six shots and three goals.
- Framingham State goalkeeper Kaitlyn Tello made 10 saves in the game.
- Both teams had 10 penalty corners, but Westfield State capitalized on their opportunities more effectively.
