Women's Lacrosse Opens 2025 Season with Setback at WestConn

Danbury, Conn. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2025 season this afternoon and were defeated 21-6 by WestConn at The WAC. 

THE BASICS: 

-Scores:  WestConn 21, Framingham State 6 

-Records: Framingham State (0-1), WestConn (1-0) 

- Location: The WAC Danbury, Conn.   

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

  • The Rams were led by three goals from Leah Green who added three ground balls. 

  • WestConn was led by seven goals and an assist from Madison Ratchford, while Vicky Gracy added four goals and four assists. 

  • Isabella DiMare took the loss in net for the Rams and made seven saves, while Allison Wurms maded two saves in her 15 minutes of action. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • WestConn jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Lanier converted an unassisted tally and Green added a marker off Lye's assist tying the game at 2-2 with 7:23 on the clock in the first. 

  • WestConn tallied the final five goals of the first frame and led 7-2 after a period. 

  • Green struck first for the Rams in the second, but WestConn used back-to-back goals to push the lead to 9-3. After another Green tally, WestConn scored the final three of the second quarter and led 12-4 at the half. 

  • WestConn outscored the Rams 3-1 in the third extending the lead to 15-5. In the fourth, Baker opened the frame with a goal for the Rams but WestConn scored the final six goals of the game to reach the final margin.

  • The Rams are back in action Wednesday when they are scheduled to host Coast Guard at 4:30 p.m.
