Women’s Lacrosse Slated to Finish Sixth in NEWLA Preseason Poll

Framingham, Mass. - The Framingham State University women's lacrosse team has been chosen to finish sixth in the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) preseason poll in voting conducted by the league's coaches.  The Rams received 29 total points and were just a point behind Worcester State who was slated to finish fifth with 30 points.          

Three-time defending champion Bridgewater State University was tabbed to finish first receiving seven of eight first place votes and 63 total points, while Castleton State was in the second spot with 53 points.  Westfield State received the other first place vote and took the third spot with 52 points.  Fitchburg State grabbed 37 points which placed them in the fourth spot with Becker (16 points) and Elms (eight points) rounding out the poll in the seventh and eighth spots.

The Rams, playing in the NEWLA for the first time in 2010, finished the season 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference which placed them sixth.  The Rams return their leading scorer from 2010 in Second Team All-NEWLA selection Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) and their third leading scorer in senior Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, Mass.).
